Although we do paint commercial buildings, the majority of our time is spent painting houses. Although each house and each bid is unique, our process generally follows these steps once a bid has been accepted:

Step One: Prep
The first stage of prep-work is usually a thurough cleaning with a pressure washer. This removes any dirt or moss that may be on the siding, as well as any loose chips of paint.
After the house is dry, we will scrape any loose paint off of the house and prime all the bare wood. At this time we also begin caulking any joints that are showing and anywhere where nails have been sunk into the wood.
After the surface has been prepared, we mask off all windows, doors, lights, electric boxes, etc. and cover any decks or concrete in the area we will be working. We also carefully cover any plants that are growing in the area we are working, making sure not to damage them or bend them over.

Step Two: Spraying
Once the house is prepped and masked, we will use a paint sprayer to paint the majority of the surface area. We always use a shield to make sure that only what we want paint on is getting painted. Depending on the type of siding you have, we usually follow the sprayer with a paint roller to increase paint penetration and even out the consistancy of the paint.

Step Three: Trim
Once the paint on the house is dry, we unmask all the doors and windows and begin to paint the trim. Most of this work is done by hand for maximum control. We work to make sure all the lines are as straight as possible and none of the trim color slops over onto the body of the house.

Step Four: Finishing
Once the trim has been painted we carefully and meticulously go around the house several times looking for any areas that may have been missed or where the paint wasn't thick enough to cover evenly. Once we have fixed all the problems we find and feel that the job is worthy of our reputation, we ask the home owner to inspect everything and make sure it is everything they wanted. Only once the home owner has inspected the house and all the painting has been approved are we ever done with a job.
